Gina Henker discovered this gem of a family devotional!  There are 3 volumes that follow the church calendar.  The authors use gardening language to spell out daily rhythms we can use to draw close to our God as a family.  Highly recommend!

Toddlers-Samuel

This month the toddlers are exploring stories of Samuel.  Some possible activities:

*Reread stories of Samuel in storybook bibles.  Stories of his earlier life are in Jesus Storybook Bible, or Jesus Calling Bible.

*Retell the story of Samuel hearing God’s voice as a child in your own words.  Use your child’s toys to be different characters in the story and have them help you retell the story with the figurines.

Preschool-Parable of the Fishnet: Matthew 13:47-48

Preschoolers are spending June and July exploring Parables.

*I wonder how the net felt catching all those fish?

*I wonder what made the good fish good? The bad fish bad?

*I wonder how the good fish feel with the bad fish tossed back in the sea?

*I wonder if the bad fish can become good fish?

Even if you don’t have a preschooler, summer is great time to dive into a thematic Bible study as a family, so join us!  Here are some resources to use while exploring Jesus’ parables:

Favorite Parables from the Bible by Nick Butterworth and Mick Inkpen

This book retells many of Jesus’ parables, and children will find the illustrations very humorous.  We are using this book in the preschool classes to retell the weekly lessons.

Give your child the world: How to raise globally minded kids, one book at a time

 by Jamie Martin

I just discovered this book last month and am looking forward to reading it this summer.  The author shares book lists covering all the continents that she has used to encourage her kids to have a more global perspective, a great selection for summer reading as a family. Highly recommend.

Preschool-Parable of the Treasure: Matthew 13:44

Preschoolers are spending June and July exploring Parables.

*I wonder what is so great about this treasure that this person sold everything he owned to have it?

*I wonder how he feels holding this treasure?

*I wonder how long the treasure was in the field? I wonder what this person will do now with the treasure?
