This month toddlers have been exploring the story of The Lost Sheep from Psalm 23 and John 10

Possible activities and questions to ask with your toddler:

*Act out the story with your child, using the shepherds found in a nativity set.

*Read parts of Psalm 23 and John 10.

*Some wondering questions:

-I wonder what the sheep’s names were?

-I wonder how the sheep feel with the Good Shepherd?

Preschool- Baby Jesus is Presented to God, Luke 2:22-38

Preschoolers will spend January exploring the stories of Jesus’s early life and ministry

*I wonder how it felt to hold baby Jesus?

*I wonder what Simeon is saying to baby Jesus

*I wonder what Anna feels as she looks at the baby?

Grades K-1-Let’s go! (Jesus Storybook Bible), from Matthew 4

Younger Elementary children will continue in the  Jesus Storybook Bible this month by reading through  stories of Jesus’ ministry.  This week they explored the stories of Jesus in the desert and choosing the disciples .

A lot of people don’t believe in Jesus.  So Jesus and his helpers will tell them.-Sadie

*I wonder how Jesus felt not eating for forty days?

*I wonder how Jesus was able to not follow what the snake said?

*I wonder how Jesus knew who to choose to be his helpers?

*I wonder why Peter and his friends followed Jesus immediately?

Grades 2-4, Jesus’ Baptism, Matthew 3:1-17

Older Elementary children will spend January looking at Jesus’ young life and ministry.

Why did Jesus want to be baptized even though he did not have to?  Maybe because he wanted to do it because he thought God would be proud of him.-Madison

*I wonder why people needed to repent?

*I wonder why John wore camel’s hair and ate grasshoppers?

*I wonder what it was like to hear the voice of God calling down on heaven?

*I wonder why God said “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”?

Grades 5-6 Who is Jesus?

*Reread the passage from Sunday: Mark 2:1-12

*Is it hard for you to believe that Jesus is both man and God?  Which part of who he is makes more sense to you and why?  

*Why did we need Jesus to forgive our sins, why couldn’t it have been someone else?

Grade 7-8

*Reread Mark 5:22-43.  What do you think was significant about these healings?  Who are the marginalized people in your world that Jesus would have reached out and touched?

The grades 7-8 class painted a large chalkboard in the foyer of the DIG space.  They are displaying some of their reflection there from their study of Mark.  Make sure to check it out!
